John Johnson was baptised on 25 November 1742 at Beckingham and he married Ann Walker on 05 Jul 1768 at Beckingham. The marriage record shows both were ‘of Beckingham’ and the witnesses were William Lamb and William Lyon (confirmed from the parish registers on Lincstothepast). Ann was not baptised in Beckingham but her sisters Lucy and Lydia were also married there. The three girls were baptised in Scopwick (1750, 1753 and 1755 respectively) daughters of Thomas and Elizabeth suggesting that the Walker family moved to Beckingham from Scopwick between 1755 and 1768 .
The marriage of Thomas Walker to Elizabeth Truswell 1746 at Branston (ex IGI) fits well and there are no real alternatives. Branston is about 6 miles from Scopwick. Findmypast has both bride and bridegroom from elsewhere (ex Lincolnshire Marriage Licence Bonds and Allegation) and gives the exact date 28 Oct 1746. There is no further useful information in the marriage bond. Interestingly there are links between John Johnson’s mother Elizabeth Woolin and the Truswell family at North Collingham.
The only likely baptism I have found for Elizabeth Truswell is on 13 Jul 1718 at Caistor, Lincs (ex FreeReg) daughter of Thomas and Jane. The parents were married on 4 May 1714 at Caistor – Thomas Truswell and Jane Trip. Caistor is about 30 miles from Branston.
The following is interesting as Ann Walker was baptised at Scopwick: Lease and Release. John Truswell of Scopwick, yeoman (son and heir of Thomas Truswell of Aubourn, yeoman, decd.) To Sir Nathaniel Thorold of Harmston, bart. Property: as in 2 THOR HAR 1/1/13. Consideration: £25.. [Lincolnshire Archives, 2 THOROLD OF HARMSTON].
Conclusion Ann Walker was the eldest daughter of Thomas Walker and Elizabeth Truswell who were married at Branston in 1746.
